Exhaust The G35 was refreshed inside and out in 2005. The interior was given sportier gauges with better backlighting and higher quality trim and knobs. Genuine aluminum trim replaces "tinted" interior trim, and the dash and center console layout were revised. Rosewood trim becomes available as a package on the 2005 models. MP3/WMA playback was added to the now standard 6 disc in-dash CD player, and the cassette player was removed. Brembo brakes were removed for the 2005 and 2006 models, and the brakes were redesigned with larger discs and a different caliper design. This was partly in response to a number of complaints about the previous years' brakes, which included a class action lawsuit filed in California related to premature wear on 2003-2004 models. A sport-tuned suspension package was standard on all six-speed manual equipped models, which included a viscous limited slip differential and the higher output VQ35de "Rev-UP" engine. The 2006 models received minor updates. On the exterior there were new headlights, taillights, spoiler, sport side sills, and front bumper. Bluetooth capability was added to the interior for hands-free phone use. Rear active steering was an option for the '06 coupe.

G35 Catback Exhaust

Cat-back exhaust (also cat back exhaust and catback) refers to the portion of the exhaust system from the outlet of the catalytic converter to the final vent to open air. This generally includes the pipe from the converter to the muffler, the muffler, and the final length of pipe to open air.

Cat-back exhaust systems generally use larger diameter pipe than the stock system. Good systems will have mandrel-bent turns that allow the exhaust gas to exit with as little back pressure as possible. The exhaust mufflers included in these kits are often glasspacks, again to reduce back pressure. If the exhaust system is engineered more for show than functionality, it may be tuned to enhance the lower sounds that are lacking from high-RPM low-displacement engines.

Exaust Installation

This is a how to for most G35 coupe exhaust installs. I used the Greddy Exhaust EVO2 dual exhaust which requires relocating the evaporative exhaust canister.

IF YOU ARE NOT MECHANICALLY INCLINED, FIND A FRIEND WHO IS TO HELP YOU. THIS IS MORE DIFFICULT THAN AN INTAKE, BUT IS NOT NECESSARY TO PAY A SHOP TO INSTALL.

1. Open both drivers and passengers doors. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery (while doors are open). This cracks the windows a little bit, and keeps them cracked, so you don't blow them out when opening and closing the doors.

2. Make sure car is in "P" for an automatic, or Neutral for a manual. Apply E-brake and put car on jack stands. DO NOT trust a couple of jacks to hold up the car.

3. Spray penetrating oil (PB Blaster or WD40) on all nuts and bolts connecting the exhaust. Spray the metal hangers that go through the rubber hangers. This will let them slide out, and prevent ripping the rubber.

4.Using a 14mm wrench a a lot of force, remove the nuts holding the exhaust system together. Grab the metal hangers and give a swift tug to "pop" them out of the rubber hangers. Remove all the necessary stock pieces.

(If your exhaust system doesn't require relocating evap canister, skip steps 5-7 and move on to step
